Chez Panisse is a Californian resturant started in 1971 as a collective kitchen, which became know for its set price four course dinner, that used only locally grown seasonal fresh fruits, vegetables and animal products. This tradition continues still til this day.
Patricia Curtan's provided the resturant with the perfect visual analog to the food that was prepared. Her illustrations, which began from her personal sketches done in the garden, are cut from lino, pressed and printed by hand and are used to decorate the menus and any other printed matter.
